Happy Tuesday, Friend!
This note will be shorter than the average bear; I’m in Ocala visiting my son, Sean, and his family, and there are two little boys in this household, aka never-a-dull-moment. It’s a little dull for a minute as Beck is at preschool and True is asleep, so it’s time for my fingers to fly across my keyboard.
Oh, Beck. He’s my 4-year-old grandson. The energy this kid has! It’s like you took a tornado, hurricane, and monsoon, mixed them all together, and put them into an adorable, sweet little boy’s body. He is living his best life every day. And right now, he’s all about the number “one hundred.”
I think, to him, 100 signifies the ultimate. Perfection. The best of the best. The “you can’t get any better than that”ness of life. When I first saw him yesterday, he asked me how long I would stay at his house—”One hundred days?” “No, buddy, not that long, but how about three?” He frowned. One hundred would have been the perfect visit.
This morning, he didn’t want to go to preschool because we were playing “pizza party” and he wanted to keep playing “for 100.” (Forever.) Yesterday, he asked me how old I was, and when I told him I was 64, he wondered how much longer I had to get to 100. We also played outside, and he got on his scooter and had me do a countdown. Not your garden variety countdown, however. I had to yell. “Ready! Set! ONE HUNDRED!” Then he’d take off as fast as his 100-loving legs could take him. Man! The good life is all about 100!
Beck doesn’t do anything in life just 37, or 59, or even 93. It’s 100 or nothing. He’s made me think about my own approach to my life. Am I going for 100? (Not 100 years of physical life, but in my lifestyle.) I don’t know if I have the energy for that, but I’d like to try. I’d like to have more of his zeal for life. Granted, I’m 60 years older, so I can’t move as fast as he can. And I’m not sure God made me to operate that way. But I want to live my best life—just like Beck.
And I mean that—100%.
Wishing you a “100” week!

That look in his eye? That’s “100.”
