A Day to Remember

Hello, Friend!

Today’s note is going to be a short one. I do my writing of these on Monday and today is Memorial Day. This afternoon, Kevin and I will cook out. I’ve got the brats and sauerkraut ready and waiting. Maybe I’ll get in the pool for the first time in a while. Not a bad way to spend the day, huh?

In the meantime, I’ve got “Band of Brothers” going constantly on my little kitchen TV. Have you seen that series? It’s almost “old” at this point, having been released in 2001. We watched it way back then, and now that it is playing continuously to commemorate today’s holiday, I can barely take my eyes off of it.

The thing is, I can’t even begin to imagine what it must be like to be in the midst of a war. It has to be terrifying. I mean, I get scared about going to the dentist to get my teeth cleaned. How horrified would I be if I were in a battle, gun in hand and praying I wouldn’t get shot myself? I seriously can’t even imagine.

So, today, while I’m enjoying my bratwurst and my pool, I’ll also be thinking about those who endured those terrors and lost their lives doing so. And I’ll be thankful.
